From house of the town...
They were complicated times when by an order of the government, all the inscriptions commemorative of the old constitution had to disappear; the one of Cal Valeri had been hidden underneath the cover of the façade. Today it has been recovered, and one can see a stone engraved with the exact words "PLASA DE LA COSTUTISION 1828" (something like SCUARE OF THE CONSTUTITION) presiding the entrance to Cal Valeri… maybe the sculptors did not know that much about words.
The past years, when Montsonís was a town dedicated almost completely to the viticulture and the production of wine, the farmers used to transport the grapes on carts from the vineyard to the house. There, from the main door, they would drop them to the "piador", where they would flatten them, falling directly inside the "trullo". Nowadays, in this trullo, that was used to keep wine, the firewood is stored, which the guests use in the chimney or in the barbecue of the house.
There was a time when the town of Montsonís was the chief town of the municipality, and Cal Valeri was the town hall. Still nowadays, on the façade that is on the Mayor Street, an emblem representing a bridge and two arches and the sign "Ave María" points out the building, which used to be the town hall.
